01 The problem

Habit apps reward you when you succeed. Behavioral economics is clear: humans are 2x more motivated to avoid a loss than to acquire a gain. Reward-only systems leave half your motivational engine on the table.

Streak + Penalty inverts the model. Miss a habit? You lose points. Break a streak? Penalty. Optional: real money at stake (commit to a charity payout for missed days). It hurts more than rewards motivate — and that's the entire point.
